The first issue of the Guernsey Law Journal was published in 1985, and was designed to provide readily accessible information concerning developments in the law of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. It was intended to be an index and record of legal material rather than an authoritative work, and readers may wish to refer to the original text of the legislation or judgment before relying on it.
Over time, the Guernsey Law Journal developed to include articles submitted by Advocates on subjects of legal interest and, subsequently, the decision was taken to include full reports on a number of interesting Guernsey Court of Appeal judgments. We also have available the complete Court of Appeal Judgments from 1964 to 1989.
The first issue was published in 1985, covering the first six months of that year, and the final issue was published in 2002, covering the period up to the end of the millennium.
More recently, the Guernsey Law Journal has been superseded by the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review, first published in 2007, and by the Guernsey Law Reports. The Guernsey Law Reports are currently only available for the period from 2007 onwards, but Reports covering earlier years will be published in due course.
